Building a Collaborative Mindset in the Chiropractic Profession
In an industry that has historically been marked by competition, Dr. Phil Dieter, the President of the California Chiropractic Association, is advocating for a shift towards a more collaborative mindset. During a recent meeting, he shared his perspective on the importance of supporting associates, even when they eventually choose to venture out on their own.
"Doctor Hoffman, Doctor Stu Hoffman told me many years ago that one of the most important things that you can think about when entering into an associate relationship is that they're going to work alongside of you and help you build your business. They're not there to replace you. They're not there for you to just dump your business on and for you to sell your practice to."
Dr. Dieter emphasized that this shift in mindset is crucial for the long-term advancement of the chiropractic profession. Rather than viewing associates as threats or replacements, he encouraged employers to see them as partners in building a thriving practice.
"Ultimately, I have blessed every associate that's moved on for me and supported them in any way I possibly can, because the only competition I see in this profession is the six inches between our ears. And so if we can get out of our own way in that regard, we'll go a long way towards advancing the profession, bringing more students to this college they can then learn the philosophy, the science and the techniques that they're being taught by the instructors and the administrators here."
By fostering a collaborative environment and celebrating the success of their associates, chiropractic practices can create a ripple effect that benefits the entire profession. This mindset shift not only supports the growth and development of new practitioners but also helps to attract and retain top talent, ultimately strengthening the field as a whole.
As the chiropractic industry continues to evolve, embracing a collaborative approach will be crucial for practitioners who want to make a lasting impact and contribute to the overall advancement of the profession.
